Great pie! We just had a pepperoni pie but it was good. Little greasy but the taste was great. Love the Greek salad the banana peppers on it are great.

The pizza is the best New York style pizza you'll find in the south. Very casual environment. Super friendly staff working in an open kitchen. It's fun getting to watch the cooks tossing and stretching dough, especially when they're busy and they are making one right after another. Service could be a little more active but drinks and condiments are all self-service so it's not a big deal. Less than $3 per slice (big slices) this place is a great deal. On certain days they also has discounts when adding a drink to an order. Overall it's a great experience with open seating for all sizes of groups.

Best pizza in town; food is always tasty and fresh. Had two slices of pepperoni and one cheese. The draft beers are extremely cold and inexpensive. The staff is great, friendly and they provide an outstanding service. We'll be back!

I have lived in NY City and this is the best NY style pizza I have ever had. The crust was perfectly thin and not greasy or overly crispy. The amount of cheese was also just right. We ordered a pickup but the place looked like it had a nice sit down atmosphere. Will definitely come back when we come back to SC.

Great New York pizza. The atmosphere is just fun and relaxing. The pizza is great. Their specials are awesome. The owner is the coolest person I've ever met. Great place to go. Best pizza

This is the best pizza I have had outside of NYC!! Great casual, casual, casual pizza joint. By slice is a great option to the whole pie!

After leaving Pizza Hut angry over the lack of service, we came here. The music was chill, pizza was good, and the people were nice. Second time being here, and it was totally worth it!

I went to Andolini's the other day for lunch, and while I won't call this NY style pizza (I'm from NJ) it was pretty good. The crust was nice and thin, the sauce was tangy, though perhaps a little too sweet and too over-spiced. The cheese was good, and the pizza was the right 'done-ness'. I had a slice of Jeremy's Special and a slice of Edie's Favorite. The latter was very good, and I would definitely order it again, even if there were way too many jalapenos. The former was just ok, as the anchovies (which I typically like on pizza) were overpowering, and combined with the green olives AND jalapenos, was just too much; too much salt, too much flavor, too much sour. I'd get the Edie's again, but not the Jeremy's. Overall, a decent lunchtime pizza place. They have beer, and I think they've got wine, but I don't remember. I was told that all the restaurants around Rivers Ave typically fill up by 11:15 on weekdays, but this place still had a decent amount of seats; not because there was no one there, but because there are a lot of seats and people tend to move quickly in and out.

Wow this place was terrible. the service was non existent. At one point a toothless drunk unitelligable black guy harassed me and my friend for ten minutes while I called out to the staff to help us out. They did nothing. The good was edible but the atmosphere made it had to get through.

I like pizza, but it's not something I eat all the time. My favorite pizza chain is Papa Johns. However, there are just a few pizzerias and pizza restaurants that have stood out throughout my life. Those pizza places I do not rank among the pizza chains. These restaurants have extraordinary pizza of which I would pay top dollar to eat. Andolini's is the newest member of that short list. This pizza place is outstanding. The pies have great flavor, lots of cheese, and fresh vegetables. The sauce is very outstanding. And sauce is the main topping on a pizza as far as I'm concerned. If the sauce isn't right I can't eat very much of it. Andolini's pies made me want to stuff myself beyond measure.

As a College of Charleston Alum, Andolini's is the best pizza south of NY in my opinion. I miss the original local, but was super stoked to see that there was one not far from my mother-in-law's house. When she recommended pizza, I thought damn I hate Pizza Hut, Domino's, Etc.. Then my wife remembered this location so we picked up a large pie and a large Greek salad. Both were great. The salad was a little small for the price, but the pizza was so big we all got stuffed! The cold pizza for breakfast sealed the deal. Love their sauce and dough. Just can't beat it in South Carolina!

I went to this location for the first time today and I am so glad that I did. I ordered the 2 large cheese pizza slices with a drink for $7 lunch special. I greatly enjoy that it was an even $7 and I did not have to fumble through having change. The employees were very pleasant and you could tell that there is proud ownership in their work. The pizza was perfectly cooked and it was not heavy tasting, even greasy, that you would receive from other pizza establishments. If you are looking for a great lunch at fairly reasonable price, I definitely recommend Andolini's.

Stopped in for lunch with some co-workers and enjoyed it. It's a large place with comfortable seating. Order at the front and they bring the food to you. I had the Andolini's special calzone and enjoyed it; wasn't super-terrific but enjoyed it anyway. This is really a lunch place in my opinion and I wouldn't try it for dinner.

After a couple of disappointing experiences with other local pizza places here, I have to say I was so completely impressed and thrilled when my husband was finally able to introduce me to his favorite Charleston pizza place. I have to say that I was completely impressed that this place lived up to the hype (from my husband, that is). The dough is wonderful making pizzas with delicious crusts and perfectly baked pizzas. The list of fresh ingredients they offer is impressive and I've yet to be disappointed by a pizza yet. Even their sauce is probably the most flavorful of all the local pizza places (take out, sit down, chain restaurants, etc) that I've tried since moving here. The staff is very nice and the place is comfortably casual. Really great for big groups and parties as the pizzas are HUGE and I can't imagine any fewer than 3 very hungry adults (or teenage boys perhaps?) being able to polish off a single pizza alone. In addition to pizza they also have salads, bread and cheesesticks, and regular specials. We've dined in and ordered for pick-up and no matter what, the food and service is always great!

Great food. Very friendly staff. A family place. We will be back. Jeremy's Special is a great combination. Huge Calzones.

We shared an Andolini's Special Calzone minus the Italian sausage and it was cooked perfectly. It had just the right amount of mozzarella, the green olives has a perfect brininess. I was not found of the marinara sauce. The size was perfect for 2 people to share. Also ordered the cannoli, bite size and fresh and yummy. Not the best I've ever had being a NY native, but definitely hit the spot. Delicious.

Friendly service. Feels more like I'm at a friends house than a business. I came in very last minute and they still accommodated me. Also,The pizza was good.

I'm originally from Chicago, I don't much care for NY pizza, but as there is absolutely no place in the south with Chi-town style I deal with what I have to. I really liked the pizza here, the sausage was a little different, but I enjoyed the taste. We ate in. it did take a minute to find out how to get in the place, there was a signs to use an alternate door, but the alternate door looked like a staff door so we didn't go in at first, and just stood outside looking like idiots. While you do get a vibe that (someone is watching and discussing you) from the open staff area, every one was polite enough, if not some what standoff-ish (not the best hing to encounter at an eater.) The price was okay, we ordered a Large sausage and two beers, i love that they had Perroni. Later I wanted to get a soda and the young lady didn't charge me. Now here is why i can't give more stars: Obstacle course of the doors, and the staff was in no hurry (despite not being busy) to wipe down and clean up tables. I don't want to stare at dirty tables the entire half hour I sit there, also it seemed to be everyone was young and not very well managed. They just talked and hung out and sense it was all in the open, way to many people who have not washed their hands collecting around food being made. Also they don't have ham or bacon....wtf But I did enjoy the pizza, next time we will order to go.

We abosolutely LOVE this place. This is THE only pizza place that we care to have family dinners at. Other places has not matched up. You have to order up front but they bring the pizza to you which doesn't take long. They are enormous and very fresh ingredients. We have not been disappointed!! There's tons of seating and very nice televisions to watch sports. They have pretty good weekly specials also. So it's awesome if you're just going there with a friend or two also. Andolini's Special is my fave!!

  • Brian B.

Good pizza and good prices, I especially like to get a slice or two and their greek salad.

    (4)
  • Aaron B.

I thoroughly enjoyed the pizza. The thing keeping it from 5 stars was the price was a little steep, if they have coupons or specials I'll change it to a 5! The pizzas are huge! And I like the thickness of the crust. Also entertaining to watch them toss the dough, I worked at a pizza place for like a year and a half, and never got close to being that good. Probably will return.

Not the best I ever had but if you want a New York style pizza this may fix your crave. The atmosphere is chill. They are a little pricey in my opinion for what they have. Would I come here again, maybe but don't count on it.

Quite nearly the second best pizza in this part of the multiverse. I lived in Chicago for two years, and I hate that city and its pizza, so this sentence is irrelevant. I love this place and I hate Chicago, therefore, the pizza here it's awesome, and Chicago is made out of pee pee.

My review has 2 parts to it -- 5 stars for the food ... some of the best pizza I have ever had, hands down. The pizza would not even fit in the box to bring it home. 1 star on service ... The people working inside the store were some of the rudest people I have delt with. I asked if there was wi-fi and was told "Nope" While I was in there waiting on my to-go order, there was a gentleman and his child also in there. Freebird came on the radio and the man and boy were having a great time singing and dancing to the song. The dude working that was rude to me 1st, goes over and changes the radio station ... Seriously?!?!

My sister and bro-in-law have always made it a thing to bring my bf and me here during our trips to South Carolina. It definitely beats the pizza at Chuck-e-cheese or Pizza Hut. The pizza are decently sized -- I can eat a slice and a half and will be good, though the guys would normally go for at least 3 slices. The service is a hit or miss -- sometimes the tables are not always clean (such a pain at times) especially when you have little kids with you who loves to roll their arms all over the table. Overall, food is great. Service could be better. Location -- I can't really complain as I'm only here when I'm in town.

  • Jessica J.

We've been coming here for years and absolutely love the pizza. The crust is delicious and the sauce is just the right mix of zesty and savory. The veggie is my favorite and it's loaded with minced garlic, green and black olives and big, fresh tomato slices. It's a little pricey per slice but we consider it worth it for the huge portions and yum factor.

New York Style Pizza, slices are HUGE and yummy! I also love the Italian salad. =)

  • Josh A.

Would have given it a solid 4, BUT the folks working had a short/nasty attitude. I guess they really wanted an authentic New Yorker atmosphere. Fuuuuget aboudit!!!!

  • J K.

Loved it. Very good New York style pizza. Got the Andolini's Special, it had lots of great flavor. We got take out, so can't comment on the service. Also, as other reviewers mentioned, they slices are very big.

  • Bill E.

The pizza is the star here featuring NY thin crust pies plus calzones an salads. No frills but some of the best pizza I've had in town. Sold by the slice if that's your thing with a side of rock and roll on the radio.

  • Eric M.

Holy cow, those slices are HUGE!!! I've eaten at Andolini's on Wentworth near C of C ... and it was awesome! In fact, that was my favorite until now. The Andolini's in Mount Pleasant was so-so. The pizza was OK and the decor was dark and very aged. But the Andolini's on L. Mendel Rivers Avenue in North Charleston is by far the best I've had!! I ordered two slices (that's my usual) of Edie's Special ... and these slices were GIGANTIC! I could easily have eaten only one and been satisfied. I ate both and was well satisfied...nearly stuffed. For Brooklyn style pizza in Chucktown, this Andolini's experience is as good as it gets.

  • Amy N.

LOVE Andolini's, but the North Charleston location is hit or miss at best. Sometimes the pizza comes out and the sauce is so spicy my kids won't eat it and sometimes the crust is soggy beyond compare. Other times, it's just right. Definitely not the location I prefer, but it is closest to my house, so if I'm dying for Andolini's we'll head over there and keep our fingers crossed that it's a good day for the pizza cook.

My wife and I have eaten at the downtown and Mt P Andolini's many times happily, and we went to the Rivers Ave location for the first time last night, 1/3/2012 around 7:30pm. She ordered the Italian salad, hold the onions, peppers, and olives. Guess what comes on it? Onions, peppers, and olives! Too much stuff to pick around, so she sent it back, and they remade the salad. Guess how it came back? Covered in olives! The runner didn't even have a chance to leave our table before he took it back for it to be remade a THIRD time. This time it had no mushrooms! So the runner had to bring a bowl of mushrooms that she could add. How does somebody screw up a simple salad THREE times back to back? At a certain point I was looking across the room at the salad-maker guy in disbelief, and he did a punk arm gesture and said "it's been a long, slow day!" as if that is supposed to beg for forgiveness. As for my salad, I ordered with no onions but it had them on it anyway, but I begrudgingly picked around them. I believe that if the salad maker had simply read the ticket properly this would all have been avoided. Fortunately our pizza was fine otherwise we would have demanded a refund and left to eat at any of the 20 other restaurants nearby. This is a minor gripe, but it just piles on to what already happened. I was in disbelief that while we were eating, one of the staff started sweeping and kicking up dust from the floor right in front of us! I would have told him to stop but by the time I got up the nerve he was done. It's clear to me the staff working that night don't care about doing a decent job. Avoid!

I think this is the best pizza place in Charleston. Always a huge fan of the Andolini's special.

  • Amy Yvonne H.

A little pricey but the pizza is good. All of it is very thin crusted, large slices. This is one of the only places that offers glutton free pizza & it was very good! The special for $7 is pretty reasonable which comes with a slice of pizza & a small salad. Conclusion: Not Charleston's best pizza, but worth trying and getting the glutton free option w/glutton free cider beer!

Delicious canolis, pizza, and the environment is fun. Been here a few times and the family loves it

I review a lot of pizza joint because...I love pizza! You can order by the slice or get a whole pie for a decent price. I got the Andolini special and it was very tasty. One of my co-workers got a pepperoni and cheese slice and they somehow forgot the cheese slice. He mentioned this and they gave him the slice and we thought nothing of it. When we were leaving the manager brought him a slice of pepperoni and cheese in a box. I thought that was awesome customer service and that is why they get 4 stars. The pizza was good and the atmosphere was typical of a pizza place. I would return.

In the multiple times I have been here I have never had their pizza. What I have had is their Almost Hawaiian Calzone and it has been delicious every time! The service is always fast and helpful and the restaurant appears to be clean every time I am there. It is in a decent enough location off of Rivers Ave and the restaurant itself has a unique setup with a normal front entrance with a side entrance that makes it seem like you are entering a walk-in fridge.

What can I say - if you like New York style pizza Andolini's is the best!

  • Tristan B.

Really bad pizza. If someone thinks this is good 'New York Style' then they clearly haven't been anywhere close to New York. Crust is bland, cheese is nasty, and spices are overdone among other faults. Head over to Famulari's if you want true NY Style. All in all, Andolini's does not deserve to call their pizzas "New York Style"

Andolinis is a great place to grab a slice before going out to the club to get smashed. Good crust...okay cheese...but make sure to get a lot of napkins to soak up the grease.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
